Urban Rucking at Cinquantenaire. Better than jogging ;)

Rucking is a form of exercise and the concept is simple: it's walking a set distance or time while carrying a weight on your back.
Read about the Benefits of rucking. Or watch a YouTube video. Why it's better than jogging.

Lets Start at 10Kg.

There is no complexity and very little special equipment. All you need is a backpack, some weight, and a desire to move. The goal here is to meet up to ruck together.

To start we'll simply meet and ruck for an hour, every Wednesday evening and slowly, together build our RUCKITUDE.

I personally bought the cheapest gilet Leste de chez decathlon et je suis a 10 Kg.

We meet in English et en Francais.

Qi Gong and nature walk in Tervuren Arboretum - 8Km

An extraordinary arboretum in an extraordinary forest.

Situated in the municipality of Tervuren, the Geographic Arboretum sits like a crown on the head of the majestic Sonian Forest, on its north border.

The collection is set in a beautiful landscape park, between imposing alleys and along a labyrinth of grassy open valleys. More than a tree collection, this is a collection of forests, or forest types, more precisely. Countless trees and shrubs from the North, the West and the East of North America, from Central and Mediterranean Europe, from the Middle and Far East of Asia are grouped here by region of origin in some hundred sections, covering a total of 120 ha.

Qi gong and nature walk - Le Pajottenland - 7 Km

If you want to know what Pieter Bruegel the Elder was looking at when painting his glowing landscapes, step inside the Pede Valley.

The apple of the great artist’s eye, the area known as Pajottenland charms with its empty roads, marshy grounds and countless authentic farmsteads.

Further down in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean – an area not half as scary as you might think – lies Scheutbos, a peaceful 50-hectare stretch of green where the Scottish Galloway cows graze at leisure.

Boitsfort to Uccle St Job - 8,15Km

Furthering our trek into the ‘wilderness,’ we cycle straight onwards into an ancient cathedral of beeches. We’ve entered the Sonian Forest, a remainder of the legendary Charcoal Forest, the vast and dense woods that used to stretch from Brabant all the way to the north of France in Roman times. The absolute greenest part of the Promenade Verte, this is the place where you’ll want to take a deep breath and enjoy the scent of the thick forest. You might even spot a deer if you’re lucky.

The Tervuren Royal Park

https://www.africamuseum.be/fr/visit/park

The park is 205 hectares and was once the hunting ground of the Dukes of Brabant.

  • The park is a national forest, laid out as a park comprising two separate valleys.

  • In front of the park there is a French garden with ponds, flowerbeds and statues, which opens out onto a series of ponds that get their water from the Voer.

  • It is one of the Flemish gateways to the Forêt de Soignes. A section of the Forêt de Soignes is recognised as a UNESCO world heritage site. The forest itself is home to quite a few animals. So while you are likely to see plenty of squirrels and rabbits, it is becoming much more common to spot the odd fox. The park's real African ambassadors, the Egyptian goose and rose-ringed parakeet, can be seen and more often heard throughout the year. The nuthatch, white wagtail and chiffchaff are permanent guests (in spring and summer), and if you visit the Park very early in the morning or late at night you may be lucky enough, especially in winter, to hear the call of the tawny owl.

The Molenbeek Valley

The King Baudouin Park covers a large part of the section. While to the east it is a park bringing together sports, leisure and landscaping, the western part, around the Jette and Ganshoren marshes, favors the preservation of nature and biodiversity. This section gives an overview the great diversity of green spaces in the Molenbeek valley.

A few steps from the Promenade Verte, north of King Baudouin Park, the beech groves of the Laerbeek and Dieleghem woods or the little gem that is the Poelbos nature reserve are all green spaces to discover.

The Kattebroek marsh site, at the bottom of the Molenbeek valley, also presents a great diversity of flora and fauna. Further up the valley, near the Nestor Martin poplar grove, the Green Promenade passes through the Zavelenberg nature reserve. This site surprises with its rural aspect, where you can see ruminants grazing against a very urban background. In addition to its landscape appeal, the hedges, wet meadows, woods, clumps of poplars and willows form all valuable biotopes from an ecological point of view. It is today one of the last farms still in operation in the Brussels region.

The Green Promenade also passes along the Wilder site, which, with its gently undulating wooded areas, meadows, pond, orchard and vegetable gardens, constitutes a quality green enclave very close to the historic core of the village of Berchem.
